Sacramental Preparation

The Sacraments are as follows:

Baptism

Baptism is the foundation Sacrament on which the other six sacraments build upon. To access the other sacraments, one must first be baptised.

First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion is a parish-based programme. It recognises the central role of parents in the development of their children’s faith which explores the many gifts given to us by way of a journey to reconciliation and the Eucharist.

The Sacrament of Confirmation

Confirmation is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. It is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation for Catholics. It is most often associated with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Marriage

Marriage is a daily job. We could even say it’s like craftmanship. In a way it’s like being a goldsmith, because a husband makes his wife more of a woman, and she in return makes him a better man.

The Anointing of the Sick

The Catholic Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness and for the strength, peace, and courage to bear the burden of illness.

Funerals

Catholics celebrate funeral rites to offer worship and thanksgiving to God, the author of all life. We pray for the deceased and support the bereaved. The model for Catholic funerals is the Easter journey of Jesus Christ from death to resurrection. This is why we are encouraged to celebrate the funeral in three stages: prayer vigil, funeral liturgy, and committal.

Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (or Confession) is offered weekly on Saturday at Our Lady of the Rosary at 10.30 am – 11.00am and on every last Saturday of the month at St. Bernard’s 10.30 – 11.00am. In an emergency, please contact the Parish Office to book an appointment.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults assists people who desire to come into full communion with the Catholic Church. The process is continuous so that anyone inquiring about membership is interviewed soon after initial inquiry is made.

The Sacrament of Holy Orders

In the Sacrament of Holy Orders (Ordination to the Priesthood), the Priest being ordained vows to lead other Catholics by bringing them the Sacraments (especially the Eucharist), by proclaiming the Gospel, and by providing other means to holiness.
